When trading with leverage on exchanges like Binance or Bybit, your profits (and losses) are amplified. The PNL is calculated based on your total position size, not just your initial margin.
Formula: Net PNL = (Exit Price - Entry Price) * Quantity - Trading Fees.
For short positions, it is (Entry Price - Exit Price) * Quantity - Trading Fees.
Most traders forget that trading fees are charged on the total leveraged position size, not your initial margin.
For example, if you use 100x leverage on a $100 investment, your position size is $10,000. The 0.04% fee is taken out of $10,000 upon entry ($4) and exit ($4). That's an 8% loss on your initial equity just in fees!
Return on Equity (ROE) shows the percentage return on the actual cash you risked (your initial margin). It is Net Profit divided by Initial Margin.
No, exchanges calculate liquidation based on the "Mark Price" and charge a maintenance margin requirement. The price shown here is a very close estimate, but always allow a buffer.
